Canadian born and raised in Sydney Australia, training under the technical and artistic eyes of Joan and Monica Halliday. Studying Classical Ballet, Contemporary Dance and Character Dance underpinned with the Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus, achieving the Advance level examination. Leslie performed both in Australia and overseas. Dancing with Opera Australia before travelling back to her roots to Canada to pursue international dance and performing opportunities.
Her training and performing experience has been diverse and has been prominent within Classical Ballet, Contemporary Dance, National Character Dance, acting roles including mask work. Throughout her performing career, Leslie has been inspired by wonderful artists whom she has been privileged to work or study with, including in Canada; Luke Amyot (The National Ballet of Canada), Richard Sugarman (The Royal Winnipeg Ballet) and commercial choreographer Trudi Moffatt (Toronto). Ballet mistress Loise Strike (Opera Australia) and while living in London and taking classes at Pineapple Dance Studios in Covent Garden, Leslie worked with wonderful teachers including Laura Connor (The Royal Ballet). and Johnny O’Brien. Towards the end of her performing career, she toured Europe on an audition circuit, taking company classes including with The Culburg Ballet in Sweden. Opportunities to perform continued in Germany, a contract offered, although Leslie decided to pursue her true love of teaching and choreographing.
Upon returning to Australia Leslie’s true passion for teaching, mentoring and choreographing works is where directions have taken her. Married with three sons of her own Leslie has gained an understanding and sense of humour teaching boys of which she has a great repour. Leslie is also a registered teacher with The Royal Academy of Dance.
